Fresh research on today's airport energy challenges
Grid constraints. Resilience and reliability issues. Rapid load growth from terminal expansions and electrification. Emissions targets.Ā
Airports around the U.S. are navigating a new era of “energy turbulence.” AlphaStruxure is working with many of them to find solutions. In this peer-reviewed article originally published in 2025 in the Journal of Airport Management, we share what we’ve learned.
We explore case studies of large hubs and regional airports, all facing down these solutions with different approaches. Some are in the early stages of defining their challenges, and others actively selecting and implementing solutions.
The article is full of practical ideas for professionals working on airport energy challenges.
